Taylor Born

LMSW

My work supports clients navigating life with dissociative experiences/adaptations, emotional overwhelm, and relationship challenges, as well as those seeking deeper understanding of their internal experiences as a DID/OSDD system or plural person. I work with adolescents (12+) and adults who are living with the impact of developmental and complex trauma, including attachment wounding and experiences in early relationships that shaped how you relate to yourself/selves and others. I also have clinical experience supporting clients living with dissociation and altered realities/non-ordinary states, including psychosis. I support and celebrate functional multiplicity and co-consciousness perspectives and honor each individual’s path to healing with DID/OSDD.

Beginning therapy can feel uncertain or even intimidating, especially if past experiences have left you feeling disconnected or guarded. My goal is to provide the relational steadiness and resonance needed for deep and lasting change, whether that means healing old wounds, finding more balance, or feeling more fully present and content in your own life. No matter where you’re starting from, I hold the belief that we all carry inner wisdom, and my role is to help you access that inner knowing with curiosity, compassion, and care.

Treatment Approach:

My approach to therapy is eclectic, non-pathologizing, and grounded in relational and evidence-based practices. I draw from a range of modalities to support your unique path, including EMDR, DBT, expressive arts, parts work, somatic approaches, nature-based practices, and attachment-focused interventions, while honoring your voice and inner compass throughout the process. I am an active and collaborative therapist, supporting you to explore the “why” behind patterns, build practical strategies for managing distress, and grow inner resources that foster greater ease and satisfaction in your life. Our work is guided by your pace, with space for both understanding and deeper processing, so that learning and healing feels meaningful and sustainable. As a social worker, I come from an anti-oppressive lens, meaning I pay attention not only to your individual story, but also to the larger systems, identities, and relationships, both past and present, that impact your life.

I celebrate and welcome folx of all bodies, cultures, genders, sexualities, abilities, spiritualities, and neurodiversities. I use a neurodiversity-affirming framework, meaning we work toward acknowledging and respecting your unique needs and differences while also addressing challenges you may experience living in a neurotypical-centric world. I also use an individualized phase-oriented approach to trauma work to first support you in better understanding the “why” behind distressing feelings and behaviors while learning practical strategies for managing them. When you feel ready, we may begin incorporating trauma processing therapies during the second phase, which is all about finding the right pace of processing for you to allow past wounds to be truly reprocessed and transformed rather than re-lived. This is followed by an ongoing phase of resolution and reconnection as you weave new insights, capacities, and ways of relating into your life beyond therapy.

I have clinical training in IFS, however I do not practice exclusively within the IFS framework or subscribe to all IFS principles, such as that of the core Self. I acknowledge the limitations of the model and history of harm of IFS within the DID community. I utilize an integrative, client-centered approach to parts work, trusting my client as the expert of their own system and being guided this.
