She also specializes in working with individuals struggling with dissociation or dissociative disorders.  She offers therapy in person in Rockville, Maryland and virtually to individuals in Maryland.

Megan previously worked for years at an outpatient trauma therapy center providing therapy to survivors of trauma. She also ran a dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) skills group.

Megan is skilled in providing eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) therapy, which is a highly evidence-based treatment for symptoms of trauma. She completed EMDR basic training, as well as EMDR advanced training. Her EMDR advanced training courses included advanced skills for treating complex trauma and dissociation. Additionally, Megan attended the EMDRIA conference where she took a variety of courses, including transforming traumatic memory with EMDR, practical applications of the polyvagal theory in EMDR therapy, and utilizing EMDR during pregnancy.  She is also currently pursuing certification in EMDR therapy.

She also has completed training in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), ego state therapy for trauma, polyvagal theory, and relational therapy.

Treatment Approach

I tailor my approach for each individual client, however I particularly enjoy using elements of eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR), ego state interventions, dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT), and relational therapy. I also use my passion, empathy, and sense of humor to create a safe environment for clients to explore and heal.

For clients with systems, I use ego state interventions as a way to understand parts of self and work with younger parts who may be holding traumatic material. I hold a "no bad parts" philosophy and work with clients to help use the wisdom of each part to facilitate with healing. All parts are welcome to therapy (but not required!).

I know that the thought of starting trauma therapy may feel scary. However, I am committed to working with clients at a pace that feels comfortable and empowering. As a trauma trained clinician, I will never push you to share anything that you do not feel ready to process. I also believe that you are in the driver’s seat in terms of your healing journey. Additionally, I enjoy incorporating nervous system regulation and education as an important part of trauma therapy.

No matter what kind of trauma you have experienced, your experience of trauma and the impact that it has on your life is valid. You deserve treatment and healing.

In my work with trauma survivors, I strive to create a warm and nurturing environment for clients to heal from their pasts and improve their lives. I believe in a collaborative approach to care and enjoy working alongside other treatment providers and loved ones.

Being a trauma therapist is my passion. There is nothing better than helping clients transform their lives and heal following trauma.
