I am a licensed professional counselor in Texas and offer virtual therapy services to people statewide. I have worked for a trauma and dissociation-informed PHP/IOP program in addition to private practice counseling. Each person is unique, so the same diagnosis doesn't always require the same treatment formula. I am committed to getting to know you and helping you get to know yourself/yourselves in a nonjudgmental environment. My therapy is collaborative between myself and all parts of you who are willing to participate. I am not trained in IFS, but I have experience doing parts work with people who have dissociative disorders ranging from borderline personality disorder to dissociative identity disorder. I want to do what I can to make therapy a place where you feel welcomed. I'm happy to provide a free 15-minute consultation before we schedule a session to see if I would be a good fit for your needs.
Treatment Approach
I start from a person-centered approach, a place of curiosity to see how your experiences affect your life. As I get to know you, I learn what direction to steer therapy, offering psychoeducation and suggesting coping skills that may work for you. My first goal is your safety in the present. From that safety, more of the past can be processed. I do not require that traumatic events be processed unless that is a step you wish to take, though I acknowledge that a lot of hurt tends to be tied to distressing past events. I am trained in EMDR, but I do not jump to using this modality with clients right away as this treatment can bring up overwhelming emotions and memories that may not be ready to come to the forefront yet. All along the way, I want to collaborate with you, acknowledging your strengths and empowering you to make the choices that will be best for you, both in and out of therapy sessions.
