Larisa Hanger

LPC, NCC

You may have difficulty remembering or talking about your childhood, feel fragmented and unable to understand your internal experience, engage in harmful behaviors without knowing why, or move between feeling detached and on edge. I'm so glad you're here. I specialize in working with concerns related to complex attachment, religious, and developmental trauma, including childhood sexual abuse, incest, and dissociative disorders. In therapy together, I can help untangle the complexities of your painful experiences in a way that is warm, collaborative, creative, trauma-sensitive, and focused on the mind-body connection.

The poet Walt Whitman once wrote, “I contain multitudes.” We can acknowledge and explore these multitudes with compassion and curiosity in therapy, where nothing is ever too much or too dark to share. All of you is welcome here, and we can engage with your pain and foster healing together.

Additional information:

I engage in extensive training, research, and consultation, especially with those who have lived DID/OSDD experience.

The opportunity to pursue healing via counseling should be accessible, and those who can pay a full fee help make it possible for me to offer a reduced fee to those unable to access therapy otherwise. I don't accept insurance/EAPs but can provide superbills.

Treatment Approach:

Therapies I use include Somatic Therapy (body-based techniques), Ego State Therapy (a type of parts work), and EMDR (when appropriate and always dissociation-informed), in addition to Sand Tray Therapy (especially when it's hard to find words) and elements of Play Therapy (for children and littles). I also incorporate art, creativity, and movement into the healing process per your preference.
