Hi, I’m Amanda Neace, a Licensed Professional Counselor with over a decade of experience helping individuals and families navigate life’s most challenging moments. I earned my Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University in 2017 and spent more than 10 years in community-based mental health, focusing on complex trauma and dysfunctional family systems. Four years ago, I transitioned into private practice full-time and officially retired from community-based work two years ago.

I’ve completed advanced training in personality disorders, reproductive and birth traumas, motherhood and matrescence, mindfulness, and dissociative disorders. I’m also certified to treat both single-event traumatic stress and complex traumatic stress, equipping me to support clients across a wide range of trauma-related challenges. My approach is informed not just by my professional background but also by personal experiences, allowing me to bring authenticity, humor, and gentle honesty to my work.

Outside of my practice, I’m a parent who enjoys walking, art, music, and lifelong learning. My goal is to create a compassionate and empowering space where clients can feel seen, heard, and supported on their journey to healing.

Treatment Approach

In my work of complex trauma and dissociative disorders, I adopt a client-centered integrative approach that weaves evidence-based modalities into a fabric of authenticity and human connection. My practice incorporates ego state therapy, trauma-adapted internal family systems, psychodynamic psychotherapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, somatic experiencing, attachment theory, motivational interviewing, and EMDR.
Core in my approach is the adaptation of the IFS model to better suit the client with a system of selves. With dissociative-identity clients or those with more complex inner systems, I respect the individuality of each part while also working collaboratively toward safety, stabilization, and integration. Such an approach respects the intricacy of their inner experience and ensures that the tempo of therapy feels safe and at a pace that is manageable.
Therapeutic rapport is central to the work I do. I work at establishing a relationship based on trust, humor, honesty, and authenticity since these are the ingredients that allow clients to feel comfortable delving into even the most challenging aspects of their journey. I believe humor can offer relief and perspective, while gentle honesty fosters self-awareness and growth.
I also draw on attachment theory and somatic practices to address how trauma impacts the body and relationships, helping clients rebuild trust in themselves and others. My goal is to create a safe and compassionate environment where clients feel empowered to explore their internal worlds, process trauma, and move toward self-acceptance and healing.
No two clients\' journeys are alike, and my approach reflects a deep respect for the courage it takes to do this work. Navigating the challenges of healing with compassion, collaboration, and a little laughter along the way is important in one\'s journey.
